Creating your page banner

You need to replace the banner that was provided with the template to a banner that meets the requirements of the fireworks project 1C .

 

You change the banner by first defining the location of your website in Dreamweaver. Once you define the site you should be looking at all of the folders and web pages in your site.

 

Open up your Fireworks folder and click on the file 'banner.png'.

 

This will open Fireworks and you will be looking at the banner you previously changed or the original banner that was included with the template as display below..

If you are working with this banner delete all the text and you can change the canvas colour. Look down to the property inspector and select canvas colour. When you first start it's best to change the colour to transparent, then you can change it to another colour after you place your background image. You need to find a background image that you can reposition for the background. This is similar to what you did in the 'Cafe Townsend ' banner tutorial in week 2.

When you are satisfied with the background select the text tool and put your name on the banner. As this is a graphic you can use any font style you wish, but it must look GOOD.

When you have finished with the banner go to 'File" and select 'Image Preview'. You will be looking at your banner. Make sure that it is in .jpg format,. Now click on the EXPORT button. This next step is very IMPORTANT. Make sure that you are in your website 'Image' folder and click the 'EXPORT' button. You will be asked if you want to overwrite the current file CLICK OKAY. You have not replaced your old banner with your new one and it has automatically updated your web pages. Close Fireworks and open your index.html, you should see the new banner.

You can use the process to change the banner as many times as you wish .

Note: All of your images are in a folder called 'ASSETS'. The video will refer to an image folder ...this is your ASSETS folder
