Defining a Site
You need to define a site within Dreamweaver. This process ensures that all pages, text, pictures, and media associated with your web site are in one location. It is also used to upload your web site to a specified web server, and to manage updates to your site. Before starting this process create a folder on your jump drive and call it 'website'. DO NOT embed this folder inside any other folder on your jump (flash) drive.

Whenever you start Dreamweaver in the lab at Seneca you will be asked to MANAGE your site. You are being asked to define the location of your site. The first time you do this it will be on your jumpdrive and it should be in the folder called 'WEBSITE' .

When the site box appears you are asked to provide a Site Name - see the image above item 1 - change the Unamed site to your name or initials, you are the only person that needs to know this.
The Local root folder is the folder on your jumpdrive that contains the site - see item 2 above - Click on the file folder and go and find the folder that you have on your jump ( flash drive) called 'website'.
For
your site to be visible it must be on a WEB SERVER. The server for your
site is the Seneca Learn server. So when this box appears select as ACCESS
> FTP.
the FTP Host is: learn.senecac.on.ca
the Host Director is always: public_html
Now enter your seneca USERl name and password and click TEST. You will conect to the server. If you get an error message you have entered something wrong. Try agin.
After you connect to the servie click DONE, you will see your web site structure in the right frame of the page.
