Inserting an Image

Web pages can be pretty drab if they do not contain pictures or other types of media.

The images that you use on a web page have to be in the .gif or jpg file format and they need to be of an acceptable size so they do fireworks logonot look out of place

This image is 95 px wide x 90 px high (px is pixels).

Images should be used to enhance your web page. They can be used to emphasis the topic, be navigation aids, or click through links.

You can obtain images for web sites, CD's, digital photos, and scanners. Many of the images that you download will have to be resized. We are going to be using Fireworks for this. It works in conjunction with Dreamweaver and will let you modify images with ease.

You insert an image by clicking on the 'Image' icon image You will find this on the 'Common' menu bar. When you select an image Dreamweaver will prompt you to move this into your web site ALWAYS select YES and then place the image in your 'ASSETS' folder. The image will now appear on your web page. If you click on the image the property inspector will display

The property inspector displays details of the picture. You align the image on your web page using the left or right style. Select your image then click on the arrow by 'Class' and select 'right' or 'left' to position your image on the page.
