Creating web pages from a template

Your website is controlled with a template. A template streamlines the process of updating web pages when you change elements that are common to all pages. In most websites it is the 'Top Banner', Navigation Menus', and the page 'Footer'. Your website is setup in this manner.

So, when we create new pages for the site you do it using the template. To create a new page select 'File > New > Template. Once you do this you will be looking at an image of your template.

Click the 'Create' button and you will see your new web page. Before you do anything else go to 'File > Save As and give your page a name.

When determining page names follow the KISS principal. They should be one word, contain no capital letters or spaces. The html extension will be added by Dreamweaver.

Make sure to change the text in the 'Title' bar at the top of the page so it does not read 'put your name here....'.
