Project 1A - Fireworks - 10 Marks - Due before the start of class in Week 4

You are to design a web page layout for a business. The design is to demonstrate the effective use of images, colour, the rectangle tool, text, layers and labels.

The canvas size is to be 700 px wide by 600 px high

You must have a suitable background. The layout must include a minimum of three images that relate to the theme. Images must be of a proper size and cannot be stretched.

You will have a minimum of two text boxes. One text box must contain the navigation bar. This can be a vertical or horizontal bar. You are to create five suitable links. The text must be of an appropriate font and size. You are to use the verical (leading edge)l tool to create spacing between the links in the navigation bar. As an option you can create 'graphic' links (ie buttons). These must be created in Fireworks, not copied from the source website.

The other text box will act as a place holder for text that will be added by the web designer. You are to use suitable 'filler text' for this area.

You must have an appropriate banner for the page. The banner is to be the focal point of the layout (ie it must look good).

You are to label each of your layers and the bitmaps, vector drawings on each layer must be appropriately named.

Your name and section # is to appear in an approrpate section of the design. It is to be in Arial font – 10 pixels.

Here are some examples to get you thinking. Or take a look at some web sites and use Snagit to capture an image of the site and use it as a guide.
